The reason why South Carolina set up the special training camps for the factories (entirely at taxpayer expense I might add, right down to the car parts they stock in the schools for the bubbas to trash) is because BMW threatened to leave because of the piss poor work their hires were doing on the assembly lines. THIS was how South Carolina kept BMW in the end. And it's VERY expensive for them to operate this since they set a standard of "we'll pay for your training" that all companies are demanding there now.The original newspaper article from the Greenville/Spartanburg daily rag from back in the early 1990's never made it onto the internet. |

BMW is expanding because it costs them nothing beyond a physical plant construction to expand. They get a new abatement good for another 10 years, and SC is selling junk bonds to cover it. How much longer does anyone think this can go on? |

Seriously ...The original story was in INK in the local newspaper down there about how BMW was very unhappy with the workforce they found there after moving in. That's WHY SC built the "BMW school" at TAXPAYER expense in order to keep them. In the end, that DID assuage BMW's concerns and they DID stay. But back in 1992, the internet wasn't where newspaper stories appeared, and newspapers felt no obligation at the time to put them up on the internet years later. Don't you think putting that story up in conflict with the political leader's wishes down there might be troublesome? Bingbong's dad lived there at the time, he moved down there when a defense contractor from Long Island city located to the property right next door to the BMW plant that was being built at the time. The company he worked for bailed out of there and moved their operations elsewhere because of the piss poor workforce in Spartanburg. And that's how WE heard about it all. |

I got tired of working in government when there wasn't any engineering work to be done at the agency. Sure there were plenty of assholes just like yourself there, but I never had any problems with them since they recognized that I bailed their asses out often.I retired from the agency because I got tired of the PEF contracts not providing raises year after year and there was nothing of engineering type work to do there unlike my previous agency which was abolished. So I started a software company. Yeah, becoming self-sufficient as an entrepreneur instead of sucking the taxpayer tit like you did is a crime I suppose, goes entirely against what republicanism is all about such as you did. Without them, you'd see plays filling the house every night, but by some strange wise, the producers would say they can't turn a profit, therefore, never pay the cast, director, or playwright. Unions like SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, and AFM are there for a reason. Your sister can join the union, and enjoy the same protections and benefits you're complaining about. |
