The reason why South Carolina set up the special training camps for the factories (entirely at taxpayer expense I might add, right down to the car parts they stock in the schools for the bubbas to trash) is because BMW threatened to leave because of the piss poor work their hires were doing on the assembly lines. THIS was how South Carolina kept BMW in the end. And it's VERY expensive for them to operate this since they set a standard of "we'll pay for your training" that all companies are demanding there now.The original newspaper article from the Greenville/Spartanburg daily rag from back in the early 1990's never made it onto the internet. |
