I can understand Train Dude being thoroughly dense, but had a little higher hopes for you. If the workforce down there was ready to work at BMW, then why would South Carolina have to build special schools to teach people how to take a part off an overhead chain and screw it to a frame? Seriously ...The original story was in INK in the local newspaper down there about how BMW was very unhappy with the workforce they found there after moving in. That's WHY SC built the "BMW school" at TAXPAYER expense in order to keep them. In the end, that DID assuage BMW's concerns and they DID stay. But back in 1992, the internet wasn't where newspaper stories appeared, and newspapers felt no obligation at the time to put them up on the internet years later. Don't you think putting that story up in conflict with the political leader's wishes down there might be troublesome? Bingbong's dad lived there at the time, he moved down there when a defense contractor from Long Island city located to the property right next door to the BMW plant that was being built at the time. The company he worked for bailed out of there and moved their operations elsewhere because of the piss poor workforce in Spartanburg. And that's how WE heard about it all. |
