No, they have gone too far with the seat belt laws and smoking laws. Those ARE nanny laws. Yes, they do protect YOU, but it's not up to the government to "protect us from ourselves".Yes, I agree that smoking should not be readily done....but there's nothing wrong with seperate smoking areas....and which doesn't interfere with the non smoking ares (I don't smoke by the way). And if "waitresses" are the problem...jst hire smoking waiters/waitresses! There are PLENTY of them. Then they ban smoking even outside buildings....some places want to make it illegal outside on public streets! New Jersey wanted to make it illegal to smoke in your OWN PRIVATE CAR! THAT is a nanny law, and it's starts little by little like it did with banning it in bars, etc, it just keeps spreading like a disease...and takes away more and more of people's freedoms. And as for seatbelt, yes, I always use mine, but the government shouldn't have the right to say I HAVE to use one... Some places want to make ADULTS were helmuts on bikes...it's just out of control! Those are TOTALLY different than banning a substance that doesn't rot for hundreds of years. |
