As an example of "democracy" look at the way some homeowner associations are run. The majority dictates how high your grass can be, what decorations you can and can't put on your lawn, what color your house must be painted, etc, ad nauseum. OTOH I would like the freedom to put trolley tracks and railroad signals in front of my house and turn the garage into a replica of a subway station if I so desire. Sometimes freedom needs to be protected from democracy! |
