As to binLaden, some would say that having him live in constant view of a pig is mental torture and disrespects Islam, and I am not being sarcastic or trying to be funny.They would be wrong. Forcing him to eat pork every day would be disrespectful to Islam. Either would be ignorant and pointless. That's interesting. I believe the military now serves appropriate meals to soldiers who have religious restrictions, but back in the day they never did. Jewish soldiers were not given Kosher meals or otherwise accommodated, even where they were involuntarily conscripted and had no resource for their own food (like, in training or in the field). In fact, Jewish soldiers received pamphlets from coreligionist organizations saying what you could and could not eat to keep Kosher. So, did the military disrespect Judiasm every day? Or Islam or Hinduism or any other religion that had religionists serving their nation? |
