On some buses in that area (S51, S52, S78, S74, and others), fully FIFTY PERCENT of the people just walk past the driver without paying. I've never seen anything like that before. It's like a twilight zone in that part of Staten Island - nobody cares, and anything goes there. But why is Mr. Byford even bothering, given that current NYC elected officials don't believe fare evasion is a problem? An undercover police officer might want to ride EVERY SINGLE S51, S52, S78 and S74 bus to issue a summons to these individuals, until this practice stops. Word will quickly get out on the street there. |
