Re: Daily News - Transit officials vow to crack down on growing fare evasion problem

Fare evasion has definitely increased. Here is a sample of events over just 2 days:

1. 42nd/Bryant Park - Guy on cell phone darts in front of me, crawls under turnstile, and gets right up without missing a beat during his call.
2. Queens Plaza - I'm exiting in an area with no booth, with luggage. I push through the gate, some random dude out of nowhere grabs the gate and runs in after I get through. No idea where he came from as I was at least making an effort to not make that easy, must have camouflaged himself as subway tiles.
3. On the Q6 - dude walk in the back door. One older guy shames him by stating things like "yeah boy you sure saved that 2.75" loudly, multiple times. Driver had no fucks to give (then again, completely understandable attitude for the Q6).
4. Air Train Howard Beach - in plain view of the redshirt and the token booth, dude hops the turnstile, Usain Bolts towards the train and slides in before the doors close. 0 fucks were given (though I was impressed by the speed).
