Re: Daily News - Transit officials vow to crack down on growing fare evasion problem

That's why when Byford said 4% he's wrong, it's much higher than that. I do like to fan the SI routes. Passengers getting on at the Ferry pretty much pay, but when most of the buses turn off Bay St. (by Stapleton station), it becomes an unauthorized fare free stop. If anybody on this board has never seen it, ride the 44/78/79 and the others that make that turn.

And of course, the same thing goes on at virtually any other stop on SI. Of course the b/o isn't going to challenge anybody. It's not worth personal injury of course. He/she get paid if fares are paid or not. Those "safety"barriers are a joke, a person who wants to harm a b/o can rather easily lean over and beat up the operator in his/her seat......and it has happened. NYPD or the SBS fare inspectors do not have enough people to ride all these buses, but even the fare inspector can easily get beat up, now the bus operator is almost obligated to help, now you hope a gang doesn't beat them both up.

In the subway, I see so many riders swipe the MetroCard and 2 adults squeeze thru. MTA/NYCT does not have half fare sales for adults.
