Re: Daily News - Transit officials vow to crack down on growing fare evasion problem

At this point expresses need to take $1s, $2s and $5s.

CDTA's old fareboxes took all 3 denominations and gave change on a card (boy was the driver confused when I put the $2 in). So fareboxes do exist that take swipe cards, dollars and change.

Come to think of it, didn't the old Triborough ones take bills too? Or am I thinking of NJT? I recall some sort of farebox where the dollar bill would stay visible in a clear plastic case and the driver could inspect it before pushing a button to send it on its merry way.
