Consider the layout of Woodhaven Plaza.

The local platforms in doth directions have builtin structures to be come express platforms. So the local tracks would go behind the current wall, the current express tracks would switch to the current local tracks.
What happens to the then unused express tracks in both directions?
They descend from west to east and both turn south to a point in the fast area separating the track-age of the old Rockaway branch.
