Tuscarora Almanac – June 8, 1953 – The Book of Last Runs

Allentown, Pennsylvania
Lehigh Valley Transit Company

This is the last day of trolley service by the Lehigh Valley Transit Company. The final regular run will be made by car 955 between Allentown and Bethlehem (PA). It will be followed by car 912 decorated for the occasion and carrying local officials.

Route 6 – Ogontz Avenue trolley line is cut back Willow Grove to the Cheltenham Loop at the City Line. The Amusement Park at Willow Grove remained in operation until 2005.

A two week test of thru-express service on the Jerome Avenue Line begins today.
Four trains will leave Woodlawn at fifteen minute intervals from 7:15 to 8:00 AM. Stops will be made at Mosholu Parkway, Burnside Avenue, 149th Street and 125th Street. No. 4 trains will then make regular stops. There is no PM thru-express service.
