The Archer Avenue Subway opens for service 25 years ago (December 11th, 1988). The first train to arrive is a (J) train on the lower level. The train consisted of 8 R-30’s. The first (E) train arrived shortly before midnight (the night of 12/10/1988) on the upper level. The first southbound (E) train left just after midnight on December 11th and consisted of 8 Pre GOH R-46’s.

The Archer Avenue Subway line was finished about 5 years before the line opened. The Archer Ave Subway line (upper level: probably the lower level as well) was finished arond November 1983. I was sure that the MTA was preparing to open the subway earlier (upper level) because I can still remember signage over the eastbound local track at Union Turnpike (covered over with black tape) depicting an earlier service pattern ((G) and (N) to Jamaica Center, not (E)) back in 1986.
