I always thought they lasted longer than that- like on the Culver Shuttle.

The second half of 1969 was a tough one for New York City railfans, both IRT and BMT.

The mighty Standards left us in August followed by the Q-Types in October. The hardest blow for me came in November when the last of the Lo-V's and Steinways headed for that great Coney Island Yard up there in the sky.
