Aside from the R-7/9's looking just horrible in the MTA colors, it was a monumental waste of $$$ & materials & man hours in geting them dolled up in that Earl Scheib paint job. They knew they were gonna be scrapped soon so why did they bother?? Just keep them close to the wash track & take the saved $$$ & divert it on maintenance. I know, hindsight...The one smart thing that the LIRR did was not re paint the MP-54's in MTA colors. They knew they were gonna be scrapped soon thus did'nt bother & for once , did the right thing. |
