R16/27/30 were sent to the East..the R7/9 were sent over for the "Broadway Bklyn Local"..which was at that time the JJ in 1967-68.Remember,there was a so called car shortage back then..the older R units were crappin out like crazy in Queens,the 16's were "underground trains" that didn't like the winter[funny how that worked out,being that they DID operate them in the coldest of weather along the Jamaica/Broadway El].. The put them on the EE/RR lines..where they couldn't keep time..but nobody cared. |
