The chain, most certainly, has gay employees(who have my abject sympathy) what is their record on discrimination towards employees based on sexual orientation? As a rule large retail entities are very gay friendly and supportive of alternate life styles. Most large retailers are smart enough to realize everyones money is green and any overt discrimination towards employees or customers, based on any prejudice perceived by the general public, is ultimately detrimental to the bottom line in the long run. This is nothing new. Denny's is a good example sure they got over their well documented racial discrimination some years back and are doing well today. But, they would be doing better if that taint wsn't still hanging over their corporation, there are people who will not step foot in a Dennys 'til to this day. What follows is an example of what I do when a place I'm a customer of pisses me off. Years ago, during the time they were, ironically, owned by BAIN CAPITAL(92-98)*, I had just about enough of the condescending, dismissive, attitudes of Duane Reade employees in all of their stores I visited (not discrimination towards me in any way, just a shitty attitude to all customers regardless race/creed/color) one day the "straw broke the camels back" and I refused to step foot in one for about 12 years. Yes I wrote letters to customer service, never even receiving the consideration of a response, indicating to me this was a widespread, ingrained, from the top down, corporate mentality. It wasn't until about 4 or 5 years ago, around the time they got a new LOGO, opened some stores 24 hours and added fresh food in some stores, that I entered one. I was pleasantly surprised then about 2 years ago Walgreens, largest chain pharmacy in the US, bought them and they got even better. From the time they invented the "We're New Yorks Own" slogan (a stroke of advertising genius), which project a NYC attitude. I love the stores now. I patronize about 5 of them regularly, have written complimentary letters to their head office complimenting employees and managers based on there patience with some absolutely clueless customers. I have as a result, "scored" 2 $25.00 gift cards for my letters and recommend them too many as a result. Hell I even won 3 count em 3 $50.00 PPR Metrocards in their recent 50th aniiversary million dollar promo. This is the way to keep customers. Ironically I have a great respect for the division of Walgreens that runs them, there is still a autonomous MGMNT structure and main office in NYC on 9th Ave, not in Deerfield Il.' where Walgreens has it's corporate HQ. Walgreens was very smart to realize the name Duane Reade was way too valuable and, using good business savvy, they did not rename, as other retailers have done recently to their dismay**, they combined their it/data and pharmacy operations earlier this year and recently have been introducing Walgreen private label OTC medicines, a smart financial move. They still maintain private label Duane Reade brands such as "deLISH" for the cookies candies and fresh foods, conversely, the "deLISH" brand has been seen in in Walgreens in far flung suburbs like "whitelandia". Funny thing is regular Walgreens stores, in city and 'burbs, do not impress me and are just OK IMO. Different vibe completely. Go figure. Not the level of hatred I have for Chains Like CVS (the worst) or Rite Aid they are both truly despicable, understaffed, shitholes, that are not neighborhood friendly. My local CVS never has more than one cashier and always has a line of about 8 pissed of customers desoite have 6 or 8 registers that I think are just there for decoration. Their employees are friendly, if you can find one, buty they have no time to talk. I presently do not patronize either at all. But that could change, as I have shown, it's up to their mgmnt. 8-) *You can't make this shit up ** The iconic Marshall Fields Deparment store in Downtown Chicago had its name changed by it's owner. This sparked websites, boycotts and protests that still exist. Their sales still have not recovered. Iconic Jordan Marsh in downtown Boston, also, had business fall off too after it's name change by it's owner. But it recovered. Ditto for A&S in downtown Brooklyn. |

Expressing their political or religious views is NOT harassment, and there's no evidence of gays being discriminated against in their restaurants (at least up until now), I would also expect that to rise as activist gays make nuisances of themselves within a restaurant and would need to be ejected just like any other unruly customer would need to be. |

There is no reason to take it at JayZee's word, as so many times he has manufactured stores to try and prove a point he is pushing. JayZee dug this hole himself.
