Civil unions should apply to any two people and should be afforded the same rights as a married couple. I feel this way because I'm tolerant and accepting, and feel that a same sex couple should get the same tax, death, and health benefits as heterosexuals. For example, the same-sex registry in St. Petersburg does not bother me. I agree with it. |

Nathan, this has much less to do with religion than you'd make it seem. It has to do with free speech and ones right to express it, within the law, without fear of reprisals from those who do not agree. I certainly do not agree with the Chick-fil-A CEO's stance on gay marriage. I'm willing to bet that 1/2 the people who came out and flooded Chick-fil-A stores yesterday, to show their support, also do not agree. What this seems to be more about is that people object to infringing on free speech in such a high-handed manner. You, bing-bong, streetcarman and the rest of the true haters of the left have over-played your hand this time and have likely done more damage to your cause than you've done good. In reality America and real Americans have won this debate. Freedom of speech is the law of the land. |

I was sent to do a story on LGBT employees at megacorporations a few years ago for The Advocate, and much to my surprise, Immelt himself materialized during my visit to GE up in them thar hills. He spoke at great length about the LGBT workers at GE, pointing out that they were in every division of his company. Yes, I know, it was a turning-on-the-charm moment, but the idea that the CEO would speak so plainly about it was newsworthy in itself.He was very much a free speaker, unusual for a CEO of such an immense company. |
