Politiicans have the right to state their view. The people that elect them,if they're so enamored of substandard fast food, can elect them out.Zoning boards have to work within their local, state and Federal laws when they go to issue permits. Let's say a porn shop wants to open in some small rural backwater. They must be allowed so long as they comply with the law and keep kids out. They also must be given a permit. How the municipality handles providing that permit is another issue. But they must eventually get one, they're a legitimate business and can't be discriminated against. Do you see this happening? No. Why? Because it probably isn't worth the hassle and expense despite the inevitable outcome. It's just talk. If it keeps them away, all the better. But they're free to apply and finance a store in somewhere like Boston if they want to make the investment. It'll thin profits so there won't be money to hand over to hate groups. |
