Had a legal marriage union been called something else for legal purposes your statement would be valid. However, the 1040, Social Security, and many other official documents Americans use throughout their lives designate "married" as the legal union state. The designation of marriage/married has to remain.In many other countries, only legal marriage is recognized and every couple needs to have a civil court ceremony in order to be considered married. IMO that's how it should be for every couple. |

Chick Fil-A does indeed own, builds and pays the rent on all 1600+ of their stores. But it is some kind of convuluted franchise system which resembles share cropping IMO. Subways franchising system is similar and they have more units than the golden arches.To wit: Chick-fil-A uses a model significantly different from other restaurant franchises, notably in retaining ownership of each restaurant. Chick-fil-A selects the restaurant location, builds it, and pays the rent, while retaining ownership. Whereas franchisees from competing chains need about $2 million to operate a franchise, Chick-fil-A franchisees need only a $5,000 initial investment to become an operator. The company gets 10,000-25,000 applications from potential franchise operators for 60-70 slots they open each year. Chick-fil-A gets a larger share of revenue from its franchises than other chains, but the formula works well for operators — franchisees make an average of $190,000 per year. In 2010 Chick-fil-A took the industry lead in average sales per restaurant, making an average of $2.7 million per restaurant in 2010 |

Look at the attempt to disenfranchise millions....mostly Hispanics and blacks in Floriduh right here right now.....tell me things are progressing....Not!What compromises the pursuit of happiness differs from individual to individual. Gays are now fighting to have their relationships legally and equally recognized. It's a different fight for a different issue affecting a different part of the population, but that doesn't make it less legitimate to those it affects. |
