That's why I support same-sex unions.

What a cop-out.

You are stuck in 2002.

"Civil unions" is not a position.
It's a political compromise invented by politicians.

You are either for marriage equality or you're not.

Saying that you are for civil unions in 2012 is like someone saying that they think that blacks should get the same education as whites as long as they don't get to attend the same schools.

They'd be laughed at because it'd be clear what they are really thinking.
