What the Nazis were doing in Skokie and what CFA is supporting are two very different things. GFA is finding groups that are trying to keep gays and lesbians from achieving full equality as Americans--and these groups fund the campaigns of legislators who enact laws to keep us from enjoying the same rights as everybody else.Now, these anti-gay people are facing a "whirlwind"--social change--which is what progressive societies do when they evolve. Forty years ago, it was interracial marriage, today, it's us gays. I think GLAAD's "kiss-in" is a lighthearted, nonviolent way to call attention to OUR side of the issue--and, BTW, it was planned and announced BEFORE Huckabee's little stunt yesterday. It will disrupt mo one else from patronizing CFA, except, perhaps, those who think only straight people are entitled to kiss in public. Of course, that includes people like LuchAAA, who see this as an act of terrorism. Ironically, I won't be doing the kiss-in tomorrow at NYU's CFA. I've got too much on my (literal) plate as it is...including the annual NYC Black LGBT Pride Week events later this month, which I help plan and operate. :) |
