Interesting you should mention Jeff Immelt. I was sent to do a story on LGBT employees at megacorporations a few years ago for The Advocate, and much to my surprise, Immelt himself materialized during my visit to GE up in them thar hills. He spoke at great length about the LGBT workers at GE, pointing out that they were in every division of his company. Yes, I know, it was a turning-on-the-charm moment, but the idea that the CEO would speak so plainly about it was newsworthy in itself.He was very much a free speaker, unusual for a CEO of such an immense company. |
