Americans know that ObamaCare will ultimately lead to rationing of health care and 2nd rate care like in the UK where patients are sent off to filthy INDIAN hospitals for certain procedures.

The Medicare death panels are only the start. Private physicians would slowly become a thing of the past. You will go to a crowded government clinic instead and tough sh*t if you don't like it. The whole ultimate plan of ObamaCare is to equalize medical care for all Americans - downward. Like all socialism it won't work unless everybody is forced to participate.

Not only that but the Obama (and Bloomberg) regime wants to control what you eat because if the government is paying for med care then 'criminals' who eat salty foods are a drain on evrybody else. Will there be 'food crime' courts too? I guess the Italians, Jews and Mexicans will be put on trial first for 'unhealthy' foods.

I'd rather risk that then risk all the other myriad of other problems this new law brings me, including making my family's current health insurance plan unaffordable, assuming I am allowed to keep it.

You don't win people over by insulting them. Many know full well what's in it, in as far as anyone can know what's buried in this bureaucratic nightmare.

You said it, not me. BUT that is what ObamaCare is all about. That is something positive to strive for? I hope not. Another example of Obama's and the democrat's essentially negative, cycnical view of the USA. It's alos about the political control of healthcare. So you want a new 'People's Clinic' in you district, well then your rep better vote the way the Obama Gang want them too.

I am not as familiar with Jewish food, but Italian and Mexican food is not exactly the poster child of "health", or non fatty.
From what I have seen of some Jewish cooking too, it's also not exactly the poster child of health. Doesn't mean any three of them aren't absolutely delicious, but "healthy", they may have some problem proving that.

Exactly. And I don't know where he threw Middle Eastern and Greek food in with it, as those two are in fact healthier. Middle Eastern lacks a lot of the meats other nationalities have so popular, and it also uses rice instead of pasta, and doesn't have all that cheese and sausage.
Greek food is more like Middle Eastern, but perhaps a little step down in healthiness, but not nearly as bad as Italian.

And I love Italian food, this is not a knock on it at all, but to pretend all that pasta, sausage, ricotta mozzarella and heavy tomato sauce, etc is healthy is a lie.

Senators Reid, Durbin, Schumer, Murray and Stabenow:

Thank you for reminding us – and the American people – of the backroom deal that you struck behind closed doors with ‘Big Pharma,’ resulting in bigger profits for the drug companies, and higher prescription drug costs for 33 million seniors enrolled in Medicare Part D, at a cost to the taxpayers of $42.6 billion.

The House is going to pass legislation to repeal that now. You’re welcome.

What about the rest of the HCR provisions already in effect? What about those on the new insurance for pre-existing conditions? Kids under 16? What about the provisions that stop insurers from being death panels through recissions and denial of claims?

You offer no proff for that statement. In fact, more Americans are in favor of HCR than are opposed. You are distorting the numbers by including those who want to see HCR do much more, including a public option, open Medicare or single payer.

And who said anything about Greek or Middle Eastern food? Both of those are "healthier" than Italian food.

Agreed but it's still healthier than Northern, Central and Eastern European foods let alone what we eat in North America.

That's not a knock on German, American or Mexican food.
I love most German and most American stuff (the unhealthier the better) but that doesn't change the fact that it's poison even if eaten in slightly above average amounts. One has to engage in unrestrained gluttony to reach the same amounts of unhealthiness with most Italian foods.

There is a greater mentality of moderation.
In Italy on weekdays, breakfasts are small, lunches tend to be modest and only with dinner does one truly feast.

In America we sicken ourselves to an early death on all three meals.
I rarely eat breakfast to this day even though American breakfasts are unparalled in tastiness and bliss.

So what if it does.
That's where it ends. Like cap 'n trade two years ago.

If you compare apples with apples, Italian cuisine is as bad/good for you as any cuisine you've mentioned. Fatty meats are fatty meats; including dairy products like cheese in any recipe raises the fat content significantly. Don't get me started on desserts! Conversely, healthier dishes like simple seafood plates, salads, etc. exist in all the cuisines you've mentioned. When you really explore western cuisine, you'll find they're all about same in terms of health. Asian cuisine, in terms of fat content, could be viewed as healthier overall, and is probably a more apt comparison. But don't try to tell me that a slice of Genoa is healthier than a slice of Cervalat.

your pal,
Fred
