I want statehood for all the Pacific islands that belong to us, including Guam, Wake, Midway, Samoa, the Marianas, Baker, Howland, Jarvis, Johnston, and Palmyra.I also support a settlement of our disputed territories in the Caribbean, Bajo Nueva Bank and Serranilla Bank. In a negotiated agreement exchanging these islands for recurrent foreign aid with Colombia, they, too, could be granted statehood. (The US claims both islands under the 1879 Guano Islands Act, although the International Court of Justice awarded them to Colombia over Nicaragua in 2012. The US was not party to that case, nor do we recognize the ICJ's authority.) If you are an American citizen by virtue of being born on any of these islands, then you deserve the full political representation that comes with statehood. Territorial administration amounts to "citizenship lite", which should not be in a democratic republic such as ours. |

I noticed during her match earlier under her name at the table it said "Guam". Manufacturers jumped on the AM stereo bandwagon. There were boomboxes & Walkmans in addition to cars radios capable of receiving an AM stereo signal. But, enter Gov't interference. The FCC could not agree on format compatible with all of the receivers out there. AM stereo radio demand and sales dropped. Stations stopped broadcasting in stereo, all thanks to FCC feet dragging. Next up was AM-HD. That never caught on either. Bottom line, due to its technical inferiority, AM radio is dying a slow death. Dozens of USA AM stations per year shut off their transmitters forever. |

All persons born on American soil are citizens. There was (still is) a station in L.A., KFI 640 AM, which could be heard up and down the west coast. I heard a lady got it one time in Virginia. Speaking of Virginia, when I was in college there many years ago, one time I was up late (asthma may have been acting up), and I got WLS in Chicago and WABC in NY. I listened to WLS when I lived in Urbana, about 120 miles south of Chicago. Came in loud and clear, unless there were electrical storms in the area. I listened to WABC before I went to Illinous, but when I came back in 1974, I unfortunately listened to a toal shitfest of a station, WXLO 98.7 Fm aka 99X. They were terrible. Not so bad when I first got back, but by 1976 when I left, they were unlistenable. I only started listening to them, because when I was in Illinois, I spent the summers with my grandmother in Brooklyn, and my cousin listened to 99X, so I did when I came back. I'm not in touch with him anymore 😂 |
