Specifically, Christianity is derived from the Torah plus a compilation of Torah fan fiction called the New Testament.I mean, the Torah promises a messiah to the Jewish people but never actually delivers. Even thousands of years ago, an anticlimactic ending like that will persuade fans to write fix fic to make the guy actually show up. |

For one thing they do not honor the Sabbath. The Old Testament is not the same as the Torah. You apparently don't know what one of those things is, or both. That Jesus of Nazareth was a Jew is irrelevant. He didn't found the Christian religion in any event. |

Because the ten commandments are the core of the Christian religion as well, the only difference being that IF you stop sinning, then you are forgiven for your past offenses because that was the whole point of Jesus dying on the cross to take away the penalties of those sins so long as you stop. Secondly, honoring the Sabbath might be a different day of the week (because the seventh day is counted differently and then they screwed up the calendar) but it's supposed to be kept every bit as holy (except for retailers). In that particular statement, you seem to be implying that Christians are godless and that's insulting. Then there's the "didn't found" bit ... His intention was to modify Judaism and not necessarily build a church, but Christians DO accept him as the Moschiach which was promised in the Torah. So I found that comment dismissive. Now I understand the difference between Judaism and Christianity in all of those arguments, but like I said if I were to write out the reverse of those statements, I'd be instantly pinned as a rabid antisemite for questioning any of that. Just wanted to make that point, that's all. That all said, I don't take any of this too seriously ... |

Do you follow all 613?And no, you don't observe the Sabbath, which is still Saturday. Sunday is the Lord's Day. Sorry if I implied that you were Godless. That was not my intention. Jesus did not abandon Judaism. It was his successors who brought Christianity to the Gentiles. |

What Christians call the "Old Testament" is essentially the Tanakh (Torah plus Neviim plus Ketuvim). In the case of the Protestants, only the books of the Masoretic Tanakh are included; the Catholics include certain books from the Greek version, which don't appear in the Tanakh. The matter of observing the Sabbath is still a matter of large controversy. There is no Biblical command to observe the day after the Sabbath, but it was instead imposed by people like Constantine, and further imposed non-Biblically by the Synod of Laodicea. Jesus was both a Jew and the founder of the original Christian religion, which observed not only the seventh-day Sabbath but also all the festivals in the Torah (e.g. Passover instead of "Easter", and the rest). The Catholic Church was/is a Roman Empire-sanctioned counterfeit, which rejected even what the Apostles (mostly Jewish) taught. |

"religion" is the reason WHY there is so much misunderstanding.. "religion" has taken on a life of its own..and often the FOCUS isn't about our Creator, but something entirely different. best to leave well enough alone..but i will say this..
