You wrote four paragraphs, and yet not once did you use the [shift] key. Having a bit of trouble getting it up, are we? Your rant focuses on the sexual aspect of homosexuality, but what about the human aspect? Consider for a moment what our world today would be like if you stripped away every single contribution that has been made to global history and culture that has been made by non-heterosexuals. Rulers, philosopher, painters, sculptors, authors, playwrights, statesmen, and countless others whose positive contribution to the world as we know it never rose to historical levels, but who nonetheless managed to change the world they lived in for the better. Homosexuality is about a lot more than just dreaming up new and exciting ways to use hamsters and duct tape. A person is about a lot more than just what they stick into where. Even you are about a lot more than just what you write on this website's message boards. But if your only argument against same-sex marriage -- or homosexuality in general -- is your explosion of verbal diarrhea to which I am responding, then all anyone is going to do is treat you as such and just wipe and flush you away. If you have a more scholarly argument for why same-sex couples shouldn't be granted civil marriages, I would definitely like to hear it -- please note, there is no sarcasm in that request. My desire to hear it is genuine. While I can understand the religious objections to same-sex marriage, I am at a loss to understand why civil marriage is a problem, especially in a nation founded on a separation of Church and State. Respectfully, ~Alan |
