Time Warner Cable tells VCR owners to go to hell

TWC of NY installed a new program guide into all their digital cable users' boxes last night. It looks completely different and has some nice new features. One feature they took out was the VCR timer option, which turned on the box at a prescribed time to a prescribed channel so that a VCR could record a program, then it turned the box off. That feature is now gone. When I called TWC this morning, the nice Indian taught to cover her accent lady told me that TWC felt that not enough people still use VCR's to record programming, and that I should consider upgrading to a DVR box (at additional cost, of course).

This is news to me. I know a LOT of people who still use a VCR to tape programming. More than all the DVR and Tivo users I know combined. How many people here still use VCR's to record programming while you are away/sleeping?
