Heh. Actually had to go and look it up in the config file since I wrote the script for it over three years ago. My source for listings is imdb/tvgrid ... and no, it's actually not difficult at all. Doing what I did with 8 UHF channel modulators and all the gear for the house distribution system may be a wee challenge for many, but setting up the video server itself is actually a walk in the park.

There's a nice Windows proggie that I ported to BSD for my purposes (writing the driver for the tuner card was the sole nightmare) called "MediaPortal" ... it's FREE! If you won't want to feed the signal into a modulator, then you just take the DV video output and audio connectors from the computer and plug them into a digital TV or monitor.

MediaPortal comes with a shitload of plugins and customizations. If you've got an old Winders box sitting around that does at least 2 Ghz and about 1 gig or more of silicon, ANYBODY can do it ... only thing not normally resident in an old Winders box is the tuner card and a big enough hard disk ... but check into MediaPortal - I'm still using the older version along with a bunch of streaming tricks and networking added so that ANY computer in the house can watch anything you want as long as the TV channel on 18 here ...
