I would have accepted a line of "Things are better in 2007 than in 1967" but to deny that there is even a vestige of racism in this country shows your total disregard towards African-Americans. There are black professionals who meet the qualifications for jobs but don't get them for the obvious reasons. There are black CEO's that can't even hail a cab. There are those like myself that have been repeatedly followed in stores. I'm not Al Sharpton or Charles Barron. I'm not blaming all of black America's transgressions on racism. However, racism is definitely a contributing factor to the current state of black America. The comments made in this thread make me sick. The people who claim to be "liberals" are the same ones who would send a hardworking, decent man to jail. Other "liberals" justify the use of the disgusting n-word. The only good thing about this thread is that it allowed me to see the true personalities of the people at Subchat that I formerly considered to be friends. |
