So called right-wing politicians want to do the same with the Supreme Court (they just have different policy positions they want the Court to take).The Fourth Amendment states “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” Yet Justices Alito & Thomas, who purport to be “strict constructionists” would turn this clear language on its head in Carpenter v. United States merely because of the political result. |
