LOL. You may forget that there were also several Democrats in the Senate against single-payer, or even a public option. (Does the name Lieberman ring a bell?)

Then when Scott Brown was elected, the GOP could filibuster at will. ACA only passed in the end by a whisker, needing to use an unusual parliamentary maneuver at that (reconciliation).

Anything more than the ACA was unpassable. Stop rewriting history.

And you may think the ACA doesn't go far enough, but it is FAR better than the previous system.
