You are claiming a counterfactual that has no basis in the political reality of the time. Believe me, I would've loved single-payer or public option. I followed all the debates and maneuvers religiously. I am convinced this is the best we could have accomplished in the political atmosphere at the time. Why you have no insurance I can't fathom. Perhaps you could explain. I would think that if you can't afford the premiums, you would qualify for subsidies. All I know is both of my 30-something sons, who were either unemployed or self-employed in the last 2 years, were able to get very affordable ACA insurance where they would have had zero before. |
