But, as I said I see where I was being too idealistic and I see now maybe I was too hopeful to expect it in 3 hours.I will say maybe the LIRR handled it a little better than I gave them credit for but they really did not have good communications in the first couple of days but they did get better at it as the week transpired. But, I still stand by my opinion that Ms. Williams should be relieved of her job and a proper replacement be put into place but that is my opinion not a fact. |

I agree 100% I am so glad you do too!!! but they really did not have good communications in the first couple of days I disagree 100%! From the day of the incident, they had info up on the website detailing how much service would run. The info that first afternoon was not as detailed as the following days, but it was more than enough to let you know which terminal trains on your branch would be leaving from and that connections would not be held at Jamaica. I think the communication was AT LEAST minimally competent and maybe almost "excellent". But, I still stand by my opinion that Ms. Williams should be relieved of her job and a proper replacement be put into place but that is my opinion not a fact. I still wholeheartedly disagree. You haven't shown a single thing that she or the LIRR did egregiously wrong. So far the only thing you still disagree with me about is the communication. So you're saying it was so bad that she should be kicked out? I think it was so good that she should be commended! |

Yes, it is the communication issue that I think was the worst element and many pax complained about the lack of communication.She mishandled Hurricane Earl (that is debateable I agree but IMHO she handled it wrong), the pensions and disbility issues. It is an overall assessment of her performance. But, again it is my opinion. Maybe it isn't right and maybe it is but the ultimate decision is up to Mr. Walder and only he can tell us what will become of her. |

As far as the MTA website goes, LIRR has the best communication of any MTA agency. In fact if anything they overdo it. I get the same alerts over and over and over. Late trains of short duration they post all the time.Speaking of: I am signed up for NYCT alerts too but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong because they're just not sending them to me. I must be doing something wrong but can't figure it out. |
