I don't remember the site URL for those early ariel panoramic photos of NYC, but I did look through the those taken from shortly after the '39-'40 fair, up until the 1964 Fair opened.

Though the pilings were underground, of course, even in the photos a taken a few years after the Fair, there were no evident surface remains of the spur, that I was able to make out.

Maybe up towards Flushing Meadow park, there were spaces that could have been wide enough to be where the two track right-of-way was, but there were no "glaring in the face obvious" left overs that I could find.

I looked as well and didn't see any either. Well ... you know how it was with the IND ... budgets for X number of tracks, as built, 1 less. Think Concourse too. :)

Sometimes you don't get the funding you wanted or SAS might have been 3 tracks here and there too.

Yeah, but if you look at the run from beyond the fair grounds to the yard leads, definitely two tracks down there. Perhaps they might have provided some layup space for a gap train in the final design?

Oh ... due to obsessive turtle, I didn't take this picture, I wasn't even around in 1939 so be ye forewarned. I STOLE this picture, I'm a crook and a thief for posting it, and I'm glad. :)

Some of Everett White's films had been turned into a video called "Everett White in the West" which was produced a few years back by Transit Gloria Mundi (I have a copy). Pretty good video - some nice scenes of the Chicago El. It's all Illinois to California, but interesting nonetheless.

I once emailed TGM and gave them some feedback on this video. The response I got was that they had more of his home movies and will produce future DVDs from them (including an eastern US video). Unfortunately, that hasn't happened yet.

Why are you asking me? You're the one who said I was unemployed. Surely you know all about me, right?

Is that all that you aspire to?
:( Sadly, yes.

Did you ever consider the possibility of losing that caustic attitude of yours and try to make friends?
Holy shit, I never thought of that :( I have no friends :(

Perhaps, your employment situation, or lack of it, might improve!
Perhaps!

Selkirk didn't ruin your life
Yes he did. I said he did. He did. Should I say it again? Will that help?

ou managed to do that all by your little LONEsome self!
Huh? WTF did I do? SelkirkTMO ruined my life by posting here that I was fired. That's a FACT. You can take that to the BANK...and get a free pen.

Stop blaming others for your misery.
But they say misery loves company. Hey, we could start a company and make misery!

If Selkirk did something to you, he probably had more than enough justification to do it!!!
Are you mentally retarded? He had absolutely no justification at all, just like all the other times he has done bad things to good people here. He is a menace. A monster. A disease.
