I thought it was in a Nilet thread that he said it. I was unable to find it this morning. If you can do a better job researching this please do. Until someone can offer proof that he did say it I will stand by my apology to him. I sighted him as an example of someone who always took the side of the police, especially when it came to Nilet. |

Brotha-man, no need to apologize for anything!! It's all good!! As I stated before, next time just save the judging for if and when someone should make a comment. This was all unnecessary especially since the persons whose names you brought up said nothing at all, and the one of them, myself, who did only offered a sympathy and apology that Fred G had to go thru that silliness much as others, sadly, have!!Again, to date, I only can speak for myself that I have had no problems whatsoever. Sure, an officer might ask, but after a good explanation, all in good attitude and faith, I have been able to go on shooting as I always do, without any problems to date, since I ever got into rail photography. |

I feel that two posters asked for proof of my statement and I can't back it up. I respect them for questioning me, because they don't know me and can't determine if I made that statement up or not. That is why I am apologizing. I am pretty certain that Jeff did write those words years ago and at this point Terrapin is the only other poster who remembers this. I thank him for backing me up and vouching for my honesty. Rich, you needn't prove anything to anyone. I look at it as it being the past, dead and gone, so why bring it back??? I will say that, for the record, I do recall Jeff saying something to that effect, but hey it was his own opinion and he is entitled to it, and we should respect that, though it may not be popular, it is his own opinion. As for jealous, there is nothing to be jealous of, as whenever I have been questioned, my openness and straightforwardness regarding what I am doing have never failed me yet. And I have shot one after the other after the other and so on with photos, many in the presence of officers, with no problems at all, and even had officers admit they knew of there being no photo policy restricting photography of the MTA system, and that it was all good, as long as no trespassing was involved. While I have no clue how SEPTA regards things, I am confident the day comes I visit Philly, I will have little if any problem whatsoever much as I have everywhere else, more towards no problems than little problems. Situations and attitudes of people always differ, and people handle things differently, so how things go down will always differ from person to person, and I do understand and acknowledge that. |

For what it's worth, I think there is a bit too much generalization of NY'ers. I don't hate Philadelphia (maybe of some of the things they did, like the Rt. 23 trolley for instance, but not the city as a whole), nor have I detected any general bad attitude from people I hang out with. If anything, I feel sorry for Philadelphia, when I think of how it used to be such a great railroad hub (I felt it most keenly when we were taking pictures at North Philadelphia last year). Besides, for every issue I can think of about Philadelphia, I can name at least one juicy issue about NY to match it. |

What the fuck is WRONG with you? Do you make rash generalizations about every "group" of people?Yes, there are officers out there that are unworthy of their badge. Yes, there are too many of them and those that abuse their position to uphold the law should be fired. However, to put ALL of the officers in one single group is simply ridiculous. My god, if things went your way, all police departments would be disbanded and our country can go into a state of chaos! GET...A...GRIP! |

As I have mentioned before in several posts what needs to happen is for another police officer preferable a very high ranking one like a captain or inspector who is also a railfan to have a similar encounter with an overzealous cop and give the errant officer an extremely vitriolic dressing down as to what the law is and proper police procedures. |

We can all save these posts; I'd be reasonably certain some of us may have done so already. Counsel has repeatedly advised that anyone considering the establishment of any action which may be for libel, slander, false accusations or harassment should gather as much hard evidence as possible over an extended period of time to show a consistent pattern, for any future legal action against the alleged perpetrator. Then also, when his child is old enough to understand, gather the barrage of negative and malicious posts together and forward them to that kid - then he'll really know what type of sub-human being his father really is. And, perhaps teaching his child to act this way might even constitute some form of child abuse. |

It was on May 24th or early May 25th, 2008, and probably in one of the "William F. Bankhead" threads, rather than one of mine. Unfortunately, those threads are so heavily fractured (partially still up, partially reefed, and in all likelihood, partially deleted outright) that a cite would be very hard to find even if it does still exist. It might have also been in the "Israel and Syria are talking" thread; the Wayback Machine shows numerous posts by both of us in that thread, but won't cough up any links and I'm not sure where that thread went even if it is still online. |
