That's also silly. Electrification to Port Jeff will occur if and when the railroad sees demand and funding, not where a yard is located.That is incorrect. That is not at all what the President of the LIRR (now former) said when I was at a seminar on the topic. He said in NO uncertain terms that the reason electrification plans were scrapped were COMPLETELY because of NIMBYism with respect to the location of the yard. It has nothing to do with demand or funding. |
