Thats true about the sudden discontinuation of service north of Dover plains. Word came down from the ICC about noon giving the RR the OK.Before the ink was dry on the order, the Chatham trains were annulled. Those beyond Dover Plains passengers were royally screwed. Story goes that one time the 20th Century Limited went up the Harlem Line due to a serious derailment on the Hudson. IIRC, the train was routed to the B & M just beyond Chatham to continue westbound to Chicago |
