Thats true about a Metro North expansion to Albany, as in take over Rhinecliff & Hudson service. Amtrak would be more than happy to have MN take over that service. In the late 1990s MN even had a set of duplex (conductor on board tickets) and a fare scale printed up for proposed trial runs. Those trial runs never happened. The idea went nowhere when nobody wanted to expand parking facilities in Rhinecliff & Hudson and a reopened Hyde Park. Cuomo lost his wood when the NIMBYs bitched about possible traffic congestion and noise.And that was the end of that. |
