Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Mon Jun 3 07:24:08 2024 Tuscarora Almanac for June 3 1917 – from The Book of First Runs The IRT 7th Avenue Line opens between Times Square (1,2,3 platforms) and 34th Street - Pennsylvania Station. Initially service is provided by shuttle trains between these two points. 1965 – from The Book of Wrecks A layup train of R-1/9’s hits the bumping block east of Euclid Avenue Station. Lead car R-6 623 was badly damaged. The motorman was trapped for several hours and later died. Car 623 was scrapped on March 17, 1973. It will connect Court Square station on the IRT Flushing Line (7) with the Court Square-23rd Street station on the IND Queens Line (E,M) and the Court Square station on the IND Crosstown Line (G). Coinciding with the opening “45th Road-Court House Square” station on the Flushing Line was renamed “Court Square”. “23rd Street-Ely Avenue station on the IND Queens Line was renamed “Court Square-23rd Street” back in May.
