At the news conference Byford mentioned that the transponders on the L line are not Thales but are Siemanns and are not affected by the weather, only the Thales transponders on the 7 are affected adversely. Perhaps other cities also use Siemanns equipment and don't have the problem. I don't know what the L line transponders look like, but the ones being installed along the Queens Blvd line don't look like the Thales models, either covered or uncovered. |
