I think the eastern end of the Jamaica el was left unpainted from 1965 (or so) on, as they knew it was coming down. Because I can remember seeing the extant portion of that line with the beige color in the 1970s and 1980s.Similarly, when there was still talk of keeping the Third Avenue El north of Fordham, they repainted it from there to Gun Hill Rd, in 1970. We all know how that worked out... |
