Re: Tuscarora Almanac for January 2

Posted by W.B. on Wed Jan 3 08:28:40 2018, in response to Tuscarora Almanac for January 2, posted by IRTRedbirdR33 on Wed Jan 3 07:10:06 2018.

And with these changes came the first revision [copyrighted 1972(2)] to the "Vignelli map" which was initially issued after the HH Rockaway line was discontinued in about fall 1972. This cinched that there was some error in the Graphics Standards Manual of 1970, or revision, or something. Because the following colors were used by line:
- PMS 130 Yellow - 6, N (looked on some maps like PMS 109 may have been used, as PMS 130 on uncoated paper stock was more orangeish)
- PMS 165 Orange - 1, 7, D, EE
- PMS 185 Red - 2, QB
- PMS 239 Magenta - 4, AA, F
- PMS 300 Blue - A, K (ex KK)
- PMS 311 Blue (not 312) - 3, 8, E, M
- PMS 355 Green (not 354) - CC, GG, RR, SS
- PMS Black / PMS 401(? - might have been 400?) Grey - 5, B, J (ex QJ), LL

The distinction about the two disputed colors highlighted in bold is important, as it was PMS 355 Green that would be used after 1979 for the Lexington Avenue IRT lines, while PMS 312 was used for the JFK Express whose blue was a shade darker than the 3, 8, E and M's color as up to 1978.
