The D train has always run express between 59th and 125th, beginning in 1940 when that route was first established. That pattern has nothing to do with the Chrystie Street service, which ushered in the R32 consists on the D.

The weekend service pattern in late 1967 until July 1968 was D and F running local between W4th and 47-50th, and B trains to/from Coney Island turning at West 4th St. middle tracks.
