I also remember it being reported that the TA had 7,000 subway cars.They have always had approximately 6600 cars. There are problems for direct comparison because the 75 footers are equivalent to 1.25 60 footers. However, comparison is easier for the IRT because car lengths have remained the same. You could probably get a reasonable post WWII yearly count by going to the nycsubway.org site and reviewing the old and current fleet car pages. |
