They also made the express tunnel between 65th and 36th boring: they walled off the cross connects between the two directions, so you cannot see glimpses of what might be going the other way. As they painstakingly alternated which side of the wall the metal sheets were bolted onto, I am guessing this was an attempt to provide workers with a clear-up area that didn't involve potentially encroaching an active ROW for the other direction.That said, they should just do both express tracks simultaneously and make everything local. It would increase safety, speed, efficiency, and simplicity of communication to riders. Once the express is done, do one local track at a time while both express tracks are live. |
