Both South Ferry and the Fulton Transit Center were outside the World Trade Center damage area. The expenditure of federal funds to cover WTC damage was a stretch.Ironically, opportunities were lost in not improving tracks within the WTC site. One major omission was not providing turnaround and stub tracks south of Chambers for the local. This could have been incorporated into the rebuilt Cortlandt St station. Instead, the MTA opted to dust off the 1910 Dual Contract blueprints and restore the original geometry. |
