The problem with TMNY |

Posted by arli3835 on Fri Dec 25 21:25:43 2015, in response to Re: PATH 143 arrives at TMNY, posted by ren on Fri Dec 25 19:23:53 2015. The big issue with TMNY is that the people in charge don't understand the big picture. Issue is, there just aren't enough railfans in the area to justify the existence of THREE museums, two of which are far away from the locus point of the hobby. The amount of effort required to bring TMNY to a point in which it is at the same level as BERA would require DECADES and MILLIONS.It is NOT worth it - all of that money and effort (And I don't think it will appear), would just end up being taken away from other museums, reducing all of them to mediocrity. Furthermore, a museum focused on ONLY the hardcore train stuff and is far from a high-population metropolitan area will just not attract that much visitation NO MATTER WHAT. The whole thing is a waste of time. The people at TMNY need to learn that they are WAY over their heads, and are wasting their effort. If the cars were sent to NYTM and BERA, they'd get much more attention and would actually RUN in the next 3 decades. Perhaps the people working on them at TMNY should put aside their egos, stop focusing on making TMNY "Their famous trolley museum", and send the cars elsewhere and continue work on them there. Just my two cents. |
