Posted by Terrapin Station on Sun Dec 27 22:30:08 2015, in response to TMNY:What we have and why YOU should visit, posted by ENY Blitz 5107 on Sun Dec 27 20:15:27 2015. 4)PATH PA-1 car # 143;One of two surviving "PA" class cars still in existence from the 09/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. This is the museum's newest car and arrived on 12/16/2015.Note:This car is considered an artifact and will be left "As Is" in order to tell the story of that terrible day in American history. This car is for display purposes only and will NOT be available for use to the riding public.Plans are to construct a permanent display for this car as well as additional artifacts still en route from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey from the Twin Towers. As I've said before, I would be very interested in riding in this car, and I'm sure many other people would be as well. If you figured out a way to "operate" this car, I would make it my business to come up and visit the museum and would encourage others to do so as well. I see no reason to let what is one of only two examples of this car type at museums sit inoperable. If there were three or four other operating PA1/2/3 cars, then sure, keep this one as an "artifact". But since there aren't, I think it should be operated, if possible. |
