the general subway network is much more useful over the long run. next up should be infilling the unbuilt station and extending the 7 south into Chelsea

Chelsea is already within 1/2 mile of existing 8th Ave service. The only portion of the West Side not within 1/2 mile of an existing 8th Ave station are points west of 11th Ave. That's 1 avenue block between 11th Ave and the Hudson River.

Manhattan starts coming to a point at the Battery starting at 23rd St. The Hudson River is within 1/2 mile of existing subway stations south of 20th St.

As I noted in an earlier post, providing services to where none exist should be the goal - not duplicating existing services.
